B’ruchim Habaim,
For those who don't me, I am a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary, having gone back to school in mid-life to follow my heart. After graduation, I applied and was accepted into the American Conference of Cantors, which is the governing body of Cantors for Reform Judaism. My heart and my family's heart was always in the Reform Movement so needless to say I was incredibly excited when I was given the honor to share the pulpit with Rabbi Brockman and be a spiritual leader at Congregation Mishkan Israel. I have a wonderful family, my wife's name is Ellen and I have a daughter Lina and a son Aaron.
Since coming to Mishkan Israel, I have been overwhelmed by the warm welcoming everyone has given me. Working with B'nei Mitzvah kids is really a lot of fun. It has been great getting to know them and their families. They are all wonderful and work very hard. I look forward to sharing the Bimah with one of them for this most important Jewish milestone.
The CMI Chorale (adult volunteer choir) meets on Tuesday evenings and if anyone would like to join our enthusiastic group just stop by my office or give me a call. You do not have to be of soloist caliber, you just need to have a love of Jewish music and want to add to the ruach of Mishkan Israel’s musical life. The fabulous Junior Choir will be continuing as before so send in the kids! And I am calling upon all of the musicians in our congregation to bring me your talents. Whether it is solo instruments or a small ensemble, or accompanying, I would like to use you in the Shabbat Friday Evening Service.
So, please, e-mail me at cmisings@yahoo.com, call me at 288-3877, or talk to me after services. Let your heart and soul and talent help us spiritually connect to God.
